Gerard Moss, Sr. is the third of four children born to Mr. and Mrs. James Moss. He is native Ravenel, South Carolina, and he began the ministry at the age of 11 years old.
He is married to the beautiful Barbara Raspberry Moss, and they have three children Michaela Jule Moss, Gerard Armand Moss, Jr. and Avay Janay Moss.
Gerard Moss graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill , SC. There he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. He then went to Turner Seminary at the ITC where he received his Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling.
He has served under several ministers in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia before pastoring. He served as Youth Minister, Young Adult Minister, and College Outreach Coordinator. However, he eagerly awaited the opportunity to pastor. In 2002, he received his first appointment, Greater St. Joseph AME in Defuniak Springs Florida.
During his tenure there the church began several ministries including a tutoring ministry for the youth. He then was sent to pastor Greater New Mt. Zion AMEC Homestead, Florida. The congregation grew numerically and spiritually. The church started several ministries which include tutoring, summer camp, senior, and marriage ministry. In addition, the church started a separate non-profit ministry where it began receiving outside financial support for the city and county.
In November 2006, Rev. Moss received his current assignment St. Paul AME Church, Apopka.
Gerard Moss is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, and has served in several capacitates in community and civic organizations. He served as the Economic Empowerment Chair of the Collective Banking Group of Miami. He has served on City of Homestead Special funding Board. He worked on the Election Committee of the NAACP to police the polling practices, and he is member of Rotary International in Apopka.
Although ministry often challenges God’s servants with limited resources, Gerard hears the Master’s voice urging him to look to God give thanks and Feed God’s People.
